Defense Service Office West joined Region Legal Service Office Southwest at the Veterans Village San Diego (VVSD), Stand Down 2013.

The VVSD stand down is an annual three-day event where an estimated one thousand of San Diego’s homeless veterans can receive a variety of free services, including help finding employment, substance abuse counseling, health care, and legal assistance.

VVSD assists homeless veterans who have substance abuse and/or mental health issues, including men and women who have recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. VVSD receives a variety of donations which it then processes and distributes to veterans who have fallen upon hard times.

DSO West volunteers spent the day sorting clothing donations and moving them from warehouse to warehouse and assisting RLSO Southwest personnel by escorting veterans to a variety of services.
