Lt. Lucianna (“Luci”) Stamper was recognized at the 2018 U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Legal Conference in Tampa, Florida, as the 2017 Garrison Award winner.

The Maj. Gen. Garrison award is presented to the attorney or paralegal who best supported special operations forces (SOF) over the course of the previous year.  Maj. Gen. Garrison was a decorated SOF commander who led troops in Vietnam, Somalia, and elsewhere.  Maj. Gen.Garrison was described by some of his men as “the finest leader an operator could ask for.” This award is given in the spirit of Maj. Gen. Garrison’s quote: “Never judge your worth to the mission based on your proximity to the target.”

Lt. Stamper, deputy staff judge advocate for Commander, Naval Special Warfare Group TWO, was selected among eight remarkable nominations from all services across the SOF enterprise. Her recognition reflected the outstanding legal contributions, work ethic, and tireless dedication she provided in direct support of Group TWO and while forward deployed with Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Iraq in 2017.

“Lt. Stamper is a professional and expert in her field who approaches each day eager to serve others,” said Commodore Milton “Jamie” Sands, Naval Special Warfare Group TWO. “She’s a remarkable combination of character, competence and humility.”

Col. Todd Wold, staff judge advocate for commander, USSOCOM, and Mr. William Castle, acting Department of Defense general counsel, presented Lt. Stamper with the award.
