Legalman 2nd Class Thomas E. Tebbs II, USN a paralegal at Region Legal Service Office Southeast (RLSO SE), proudly showed his skills in a court of an entirely different kind.
Hand-selected as a shooting guard for the All-Navy Men’s Basketball team, he traveled to Naval Base San Diego, California to represent the Navy in the 2022 Armed Forces Basketball Tournament. This tournament is the highest level of athletics for active duty service members outside of the service academies. From Nov. 6-11, 2022, Tebbs supported the All-Navy Team, squaring off against the best that the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps Basketball Teams had to offer. While the All-Navy Men’s Team did not bring home the trophy, it secured several triumphs on the court, including a decisive win on Wednesday against the Air Force with a score of 88-76, and a Friday night win against the Marine Corps. Legalman Tebbs’ support proved vital in both games, as he personally scored 14 points on Wednesday and another 11 points on Friday.
“It was quite the honor to represent the Navy in this tournament. It’s been seven years since I played basketball at such a high level,” said Tebbs, who also played Division 1 college basketball for Southern Utah University.
But for Tebbs, the event was not just an opportunity to represent the Navy, but also to bring awareness to the value of the All Navy Sports Program. “My goal is to introduce more service members to the All-Navy Sports Program. It represents a really cool thing to put the Navy on your chest, and perform with a team.” He highlighted the incredible opportunity it provides for service members to engage in a healthy activity promoting physical fitness, and hoped he could encourage more service members to participate in the variety of sports available for competition.
He also extended his gratitude for the support provided by his command, RLSO SE. He donated his All-Navy team jersey for the command to display to show his thanks. RLSO SE supports the operational readiness of Department of the Navy assets in the Southeastern United States by providing responsive, timely, and accurate legal guidance, support services, and training in military justice, legal assistance, and administrative law.
