,Navy Reserve Commander and Scioto County Domestic Relations Court Magistrate Michael L. Jones graduated from The 58th Military Judge Course at The Judge Advocate General’s School - University of Virginia, May 1, 2015. Jones was selected by the 2014 Navy Judicial Screening Board to attend.
“It’s a process where you go through an actual (Navy) screening board to be selected to go through the course and I attended the course with the majority of which were active duty men and women,” Jones said. “It’s a full time job to be a military judge, but I was fortunate enough to be one of four reservists from the Navy that had been chosen to go to the course.”
The 58th Military Judge class consisted of 48 active duty and reserve JAG Officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Jones described it as an intense and demanding three week course that consisted of several graded assignments and culminates in the third week with a mock trial in which the student judges presided over a General Court-Martial.
