RLSO Midwest Holds Change of Command

Region Legal Service Office (RLSO) Midwest held a change of command in the RLSO Midwest courtroom aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., July 8, 2015. Rear Adm. John Hannink, judge advocate general of the Navy and commander of Naval Legal Service Command, presided over the ceremony in which Capt. Gregory Bart relieved Capt. Terrence Costelloas commanding officer of RLSO Midwest. During the ceremony, Hannink praised Costello’s leadership and accomplishments while in command of RLSO Midwest, and thanked him for his service and leadership.

A Chicago native, Bart graduated from the University of Chicago in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in British and American History and received his JD from the Boston University School of Law in 1991. In 2006, he graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center with an LL.M. and a National Security Law Certificate. Bart’s past tours include deputy legal counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Operational Law and Policy at United States Special Operations Command, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Navy and Commander Naval Legal Service Command, and staff judge advocate at Special Operations Command Central. He has deployed throughout the United States Central Command  area of responsibility during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
