Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic (RLSO MIDLANT) hosted a will workshop for local area retirees on December 4, 2015. During this event, RLSO MIDLANT attorneys conducted estate planning intakes for 53 retirees and their spouses. Two weeks later, RLSO MIDLANT attorneys and staff executed over 50 sets of estate planning documents for these retirees just in time for the holiday season.
RLSO MIDLANT understands the challenges that retirees face in obtaining legal assistance services during a period of resource constraints. Thus, this retiree will workshop was designed to provide service to the retiree community in an organized and efficient manner. On the day of the will workshop, the RLSO MIDLANT Legal Assistance staff warmly welcomed these retirees to the Norfolk Legal Assistance Office, including an 88 year old veteran of the Korean War!
The valuable services provided during this will workshop saved the retirees an average of $3,000 per couple, and provided them and their loved ones with peace of mind. The RLSO attorneys also found their interactions with these veterans to be incredibly rewarding.
In light of the very positive results from this event, RLSO MIDLANT will continue to hold these retiree will workshops on a regular basis in the future, while also continuing to provide top-notch services to the fleet.
