JAG Visits Groton

Region Legal Service Office Detachment Groton (RLSO MIDLANT Det. Groton) hosted Vice Adm. John G. Hannink on Dec. 19, 2019.  Hannink the Groton team while en route to Newport, R.I., to address graduates at Naval Justice School. 

Hannink spent a day at Det. Groton and toured the local Defense Service Office, Victims Legal Counsel office, and RLSO spaces.  He took time to speak with each attorney and paralegal individually about their work and experience. 

Hannink addressed local personnel and highlighted the JAG community’s mission and the importance of its contribution to naval operational readiness.  He spoke about specific challenges facing the organization, like manning and geographic diversity, and commended RLSO MIDLANT Det. Groton for its work.  Hannink encouraged RLSO MIDLANT Det. Groton to continue to serve the Navy’s forces with excellence and professionalism.  

At the conclusion of his visit, Hannink took a group photo with command members. 

RLSO MIDLANT is a customer service organization that supports Fleet operational readiness by providing high-quality legal services to commands and authorized personnel, including Sailors and their families, in the largest Fleet concentration area in the world.  RLSO MIDLANT serves North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and the Northeastern Territories of Canada.
