Region Legal Service Office Southeast (RLSO SE) held a change of command ceremony on July 30, 2021, in the courtroom in Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.
Capt. Mark F. Klein, chief of staff for Region Legal Service Offices, presided virtually over the ceremony in which Capt. Tanya M. Cruz relieved Cmdr. Brian D. Korn as commanding officer of RLSO SE.
During the ceremony, Korn thanked his Sailors for a rewarding tour.
Cruz assumed duties as commanding officer of RLSO SE. She previously served as special assistant for Legal and Legislative Matters, Office of the Secretary of the Navy and legal counsel to the Chief of Naval Personnel. Before then, she has also served as the executive officer, Region Legal Service Office Hawaii, staff judge advocate for Carrier Strike Group TWO and Naval Special Warfare Group TEN, as deputy executive assistant to the Judge Advocate General of the Navy, and in Code 13 (Administrative Law).
Cruz graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and the University of San Diego School of Law, with a Juris Doctorate. She earned an LL.M. in both Securities and Financial Regulation, and International Law from the Georgetown University Law Center. She commissioned in 2001 through the Student Program.
RLSO SE supports the operational readiness of Department of the Navy assets in the Southeastern U.S. by providing responsive, timely and accurate legal guidance, support services, and training in the areas of military justice, legal assistance, and administrative law.
